Cathy Griffith
Griffith Family Foundation/Sideline Cancer President
Cathy Griffith graduated from Hollidaysburg Area High School and attended Allegheny College of Maryland where she received an Associate Arts degree in Dental Hygiene. She worked as a Dental Hygienist in the Blair County area for 32 years. In 2010, her beloved husband Greg Griffith was diagnosed with stage IV Pancreatic Cancer at the age of 48.
Their friends, family, and community established The Greg and Cathy Griffith Family Foundation as a gift to them during Greg’s heroic 19 month battle with Pancreatic Cancer. After Greg passed, their foundation invited the 2012 Intel Science and Engineer Fair Winner 9th grader Jack Andraka to Blair County, and he, along with high school students, created the “I CAN” signature campaign for Sideline Cancer.
The Sideline Cancer Youth Initiative is the only youth-inspired pancreatic cancer initiative in the world that engages students to use their entrepreneurial and philanthropic spirit to raise awareness and funds for Sideline Pancreatic Cancer. From 2010 to date, the foundation has donated $295,000 to the research efforts of Dr. A. James Moser at BIDMC/Harvard Medical School.
Cathy is proud to have the help of many non-paid student interns and volunteers. For more information about the foundation, visit

The most rewarding part for Cathy being President of The Griffith Family Foundation is serving as the Chairperson/Facilitator “Team Mom” for their Sideline Cancer TBT basketball team. From 2014 thru 2020, the Sideline Cancer TBT team has assisted The Griffith Family Foundation by helping them take Pancreatic Cancer Off the Sidelines and to the Finish Line for Cure on ESPN in over 197 countries!
The Griffith Family Foundation Sideline Cancer TBT basketball team was a finalist and participated in the very first Covid-19 basketball bubble in the basketball tournament on ESPN in July 2020!
